KenneyJam 2021 - Director's Cut
This is what the end of the jam should have been, if not for my breaking every @#$%^ thing at the last minute and not being able to make a build. There's still a lot missing, but it's visually more interesting at least, with the different colors.
The original concept was basically a simple RTS kind of thing, where your star system has "industry" and "fleet" numbers that go up over time. You would rotate the camera around your star, and "fling" ships to other stars somewhat like Angry Birds (but 3D). When the ships got to another star, they would fight anyone already there and take it over when none were left (or if there were none to begin with). Each star would build up industry on its own. The "strategy" would entail how many ships you sent off versus what you kept for defense. The end-game would be when all the other players were eliminated (or you were).
Currently the UI to show each system's information is missing, and I never quite decided the method for "launching" fleets around. Each player's starting system is quietly building up a massive military but nobody can do anything with them. So it's close to being an actual game without actually getting there. Also, the galaxy makes too many clumps, with large areas of empty space around them. While somewhat "realistic" it will cause a lot of problems for players that get stuck far off in the middle of nowhere. I intend to update all those in the next week as I get the chance.
